Thanks to sponsors and supporters such as you, our organization has accomplished much in a short period of time towards fulfilling the goals of our mission: to embrace, raise-up, and empower families facing the challenges of catastrophic childhood illness. The Zach Hoefler Memorial Trust is unique organization as it has a large, immediate, and direct impact on families. Money is used to assist families in their time of need so they can focus on caring for their children. Grants may be given to assist with items such as rent/mortgage payments, insurance claims assistance, hotel stays near their child, gas for travel to and from hospital. Many families we assist struggle or just get by financially in good times. To be able to assist them in their time of crisis is a tremendous gift. With the onset of COVID 19 some families face unemployment or reduced incomes. We can directly assist them in bridging the gap at least temporarily. Our desire is to lessen the burden of families having to choose between keeping the lights on, food in the pantry, gas in the car, a roof over their heads, and paying for medical care.
The Trust provides a monthly grant disbursement to families receiving treatment at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. The objective is to provide a grant every month and to expand this benefit to other children’s hospitals as well. Discussions are already underway with Dana Farber/Boston Children’s hospital. Six graduating seniors have received scholarships for college in Zach’s name through The Foundation for Allen Schools, and the Trust started two 529 college savings plans for siblings of a12-year old who died from brain cancer.
